 Camera Work Blog Tasks:


1) Camera Shots:

This camera shot is a medium close-up of two characters showing their faces and shoulders only. It allows us to see the characters facial expressions.  








This is an over the shoulder camera shot. This specific type of shot allows us to view the subject which are the computers, the view from behind the person. It also allows us to see the perspective from the characters.






This is a low angle angle camera shot. This allows the audience to see a complete view of the surrounding and characters perspective. Typically gives us a rough idea of where the location is. 







2) Camera Angle:


This is a high camera angle. Its shows deep interest of the characters. It typically means that they may be looking up at someone. While looking at the characters facial expressions, you can see their deep interest which is commonly used for this angle. 






3) Mise-en-scene Aspect:



The setting and props used in this scene reflects on the sci-fi of the movie. The buttons seen highlights how its related to switches and advanced technology. The display connotes how its very futuristic and in a more later period.

 Denotation & Connotation: Denotation:  There is a young boy in the background with some text saying 'Dig toilets, Not graves'. The background appears to be some trees and a village possibly.  Connotation:  The advert is made by Water Aid, using the slogan 'Dig water, Not graves'. The connotations of the slogan shows how people like this young boy are suffering leading to deaths. The slogan also tells us how unclean water is also leading to deaths. The facial expressions of the boy emphasises how it affects people like him.  We can also see how the child is wearing tattered clothing showing how the boy and people like him don't receive the same care as people who may not live in poverty.  Audience Effects Theory:   1) Write a definition of a  passive  audience:   It is when everyone takes in the same views having the same effect on everyone. The message is taken in passively.  2)  Write a definition of an active audience:  Active audience is the more modern view and people have their own interactions regarding the information they take in.  3) Write a definition of the hypodermic needle theory:  It is the theory that consumers are always passive as if the producers are having the information injected into their minds. It assumes that everyone has the same views.  4) Write down a media product (e.g. TV show, newspaper or videogame) for each category of Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory and WHY it fits that particular audience use/gratification. I’m looking forward to learn more about how to edit and how media is used to make movies. 2) What knowledge and skills do you hope to learn in Media?
