GCSE Media Studies: Coursework

GCSE Media Studies: Coursework:

Summer Project:

Task 1: Research and Textual Analysis

      1) Mise-en-scène & Visual Style:

Costume: Marcus Rashford is wearing a football kit representing his country. The football kit shows the sport he does which is being a known football player for Manchester United.

Setting: This is a football setting showing where he plays. The setting has a nice atmosphere where people are coming together.

Actor Placement: Rashford is standing in a position showing his shoes. It also could be a way of advertising for the brand since it could be a sponsor.

2) Target Audience:

The Target audience for people who have similar interests in football for children, teenager and adults. The website contains many images and small videos of Marcus Rashford playing this creates visual context for the audience who may come across the website. It makes it more appealing for the audience wanting to explore the website.

3) Brand style:

They use the same colours as his football kit to maintain a certain look and aesthetic. Black is a obvious colour in the website since its bold and simple. His logos from the football shirt are seen repeatedly since to show who he plays for which can maybe influence people.

Task 2: Establishing a concept & brand identity

The Bio: My fictional sportsperson will be a football player playing for their team, they receive sponsors from different brands and all their wins create money which is given to a charity for medical help around the world.

Task 3: Website/Music Video Planning

1) Plan for website: This is a way to advertise the sports person and ensure the audience are aware about their success and the charities they are involved which presents them in a good way showing them as a role model. I plan to create images showing their best moments to boost their image and look.

2) Link to brief: Their brief will talk about their charity cases and the team wins which attracts audiences presenting them as a good role model and successful player.

3) Actors/performers: I plan to take pictures of a friend who helps out in a hospital and supports people in struggle by providing money to support them by raising money.

4) Locations: A football pitch to show their skills and just part of the action and possibly some where the actor is helping people as a charity case.

5) Costume/make-up/props require: The costume will be a football it for a certain team they play for and trainers. Make-up is not going to be required however their hair will be tied up or done in a way to look presentable. Props which are going to be used are football, water bottle and a goal.

Task 4: Statement of Intent

My aim is to create a website where supporters, audience and people interested in this sports person to find out more about them. It will contain information about the charity work they have done this presents them as a role model and can be an inspiration to all the audience: teenagers and adults and all genders. It is for people who have interest in football and the athletic side of life. I want my sportsperson to portray the image to younger people of him/her being a role model and inspiring people with his charity they do and how they work hard. This role model will create a positive look and allow the community to create a stereotype where possibly successful footballers always want to help people and it inspires them. Sounds in the background may be chanting showing how this sportsperson has a large supportive crowd which can maybe create a wider audience .
