Denotation & Connotation: Denotation: There is a young boy in the background with some text saying 'Dig toilets, Not graves'. The background appears to be some trees and a village possibly. Connotation: The advert is made by Water Aid, using the slogan 'Dig water, Not graves'. The connotations of the slogan shows how people like this young boy are suffering leading to deaths. The slogan also tells us how unclean water is also leading to deaths. The facial expressions of the boy emphasises how it affects people like him. We can also see how the child is wearing tattered clothing showing how the boy and people like him don't receive the same care as people who may not live in poverty.
